Snack tables and counters
Usefulness of snack tables and counters
They are available in the same vast range of materials offered for worktops, with the addition of wood and melamine or our Tecnolam. When deciding on where to place these counters, it is necessary to consider room for chairs or stools, not to mention the space occupied by people sitting on them.
Tables
A table height counter is almost always a custom made element, set into or resting on top of lower base cabinets (60 cm) to ensure that the top is between 72 and 80 cm, an ideal dining room table height. This type of counter features a supporting leg, in glass, metal or the same material as the top itself. They are handy for:
- breakfast or fast meals when the dining table is in another room
- creating room for the main dining table in a small space, when the kitchen has to be complete and compact.
Snack counters
The snack counter is a particular surface, attached to an island or peninsula. It is generally smaller than a regular dining table, and mounted higher, for example from at 90 cm, because it sits above the kitchen countertop. This means it requires stools rather than chairs. Snack counters are custom made and thus non-standard; when they are too large to be anchored only to the countertop, they can be supported by a leg in glass, metal or the same material as the counter itself. They are handy for:
- breakfast or fast meals
- creating an extra work surface when needed
- spending time with the family while cooking
