Worktops in Silestone®: now even more sustainable

High-pressure composite surfaces of quartz that are now even more sustainable thanks to innovations and investments in research that produced the ground-breaking Hybriq+® technology.

The Cosentino company, fabricators of worktops in Silestone^® and with a longstanding history of research into performative surfaces, has successfully completed a study initiated in 2017. The result is Hybriq+^® technology which notably reduces the presence of crystalline forms of silica during fabrication. This technique thus mitigates negative effects on people’s health when working with this material, though personal safety must always be protected by taking the necessary precautions against inhalations. Only now they can be drastically reduced by intervening during the early stages of the process.

Since 2023 every Silestone^® finish adopts Hybriq+^® technology, in version Q40, with a maximum of 40% of crystalline silica per panel, or in version Q10, with a maximum of 10%.

Every Silestone^® worktop maintains its excellent technical performance and attention to the environment, because they are made from a minimum of 20% recycled material and manufacturing processes that reuse 99% of the water required and 100% renewable electrical energy; and now there has been an increase in their sustainability by considering the wellbeing of those involved in the manufacturing process. This is indicated on the label that accompanies each slab, which lists the maximum percentage of crystalline silica in its composition.
